The USFSA SKATE WITH U.S. Program
The SKATE WITH U.S. program was designed by the United
States Figure Skating Association (USFSA). It is a
beginning ice skating program that is fun,
challenging, and rewarding. Participation in the
program will enable beginning skaters of all ages
to learn the fundamentals of the sport and begin
a lifetime commitment to health and fitness.

Why Should I Join "SKATE WITH U.S."?
Figure skating is one of the world's greatest sports!
A combination of athletics and artistry,
participation in skating can be very satisfying.
Skating in Basic Skills is fun, wholesome and
therapeutic. It can also improve coordination
and balance, stimulate your heart and circulation,
relieve stress and build muscles. Plus, skating
is a good way to meet people. Regardless of age,
it is a great sport for everyone... children, teens,
adults and seniors. It is a sport that can last a
lifetime!
Whether your goal is to aim for the Olympics,
improve your overall health and fitness, enjoy the
social aspects of skating or just to have fun,
you are sure to realize those goals by joining the
USFSA's Skate With U.S. program!
What Do I Get From The "SKATE WITH
U.S." Program?
When you join Skate With U.S. through a club or a
rink, the director of that program will register
you with the USFSA as an official USFSA Basic
Skills Member. You will receive the following
items from the USFSA to make your skating
experience more fun and rewarding:
* Official Basic Skills Membership Card
* Basic Skills Record Book with stickers
* Official Basic Skills member patch
* Year patch, denoting membership year
* Basic Skills merchandise order forms
* General information about ice skating
* General liability insurance coverage
As you complete each level, you are eligible to
receive a colorful embroidered test patch or an
attractive certificate signifying your
accomplishment. You may also be eligible to
participate in a "Compete With U.S."
competition hosted by sponsoring clubs and rinks.
How Can I Join The "SKATE WITH
U.S." Program?
Skate With U.S. is offered at many rinks and clubs
across the country. Contact your local rink or
club to see if they offer the USFSA Basic Skills
Program. If you need assistance in locating a

About The USFSA
The United States Figure Skating Association is the
national governing body for figure skating on ice
in the United States. It is responsible for making
and enforcing rules for the sport, and holding
competitions and official tests. Through
membership in the International Skating Union
(I.S.U.) and the United States Olympic Committee
(USOC), the USFSA is responsible for selecting
teams that represent the United States in the
World Championships and the Olympic Winter Games.
Each year, approximately 450 skating clubs,
75 rink members, 50,000 USFSA members and 70,000
Basic Skills Members register with the USFSA. |
