Club
since 1957
The Skating Club of Wilmington
has been
teaching the community to skate since 1965. Our programs encourage a
true love of the sport, from Beginner to Advanced; Recreational to Competitive.
We offer skating lessons from Preschool to Adult by accomplished professional
coaches with excellent Learn-to-Skate
Lessons, private Figure Skating Lessons, Synchronized Skating Teams for adults
and children, and instructional Ice Hockey
programs to help you join a team. All
these programs
are offered to the public and club membership is
not required although we recommend it if you
want less crowded ice times, more skating
sessions and discounted session rates.

2007-08 Combined
Report of Action Available
The
2007-08 Combined Report of Action is now
available for download. The actions
contained in this document reflect all
business transacted by the U.S. Figure
Skating Board of Directors and Governing
Council for the 2007-08 season and will be
reflected in the 2009 edition of the
rulebook. This combined report is an effort
to simplify the reporting process in that
you will need only refer to one document for
the final actions. All approved actions will
go into effect Sept. 1, 2008, unless
otherwise stated in the action. To download
the report, please

SCW Scholars Award Program
It's that
time of the year again when we wish to recognize
those skaters who are training and competing
for the club while maintaining excellence in
their scholastic endeavors. Like last year,
there will be two levels of recognition: one
for those earning a 3.0 or above grade point
average; a second for those achieving a 3.5 or
above grade point average in their coursework.

Additional

IJS will be used for Juvenile and above in
Freestyle, Pairs and Couples Dance. All other

Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are needed for the
Skate Wilmington competition in
July and a number of committees that
are lacking members to help spread
the work load. SCW is not much
different from any other non-profit
organization that relies on
volunteers to help manage all our
events. Join in the planning and
activities that all of us enjoy at
SCW and make it an even better club
and facility! We also need a
newsletter editor to help us
re-start a quarterly newsletter with
the latest news, including new
members who have joined, who is
competing, who's winning what, and
what upcoming events are of interest
to all our members. For information
how to volunteer, please contact any
Board member. For a list of Board
Members, please click
here
or just contact the Webmaster,
Don Thureau, and he will advise
you.

Did you know?
Many events and services at SCW do NOT require SCW
membership, such as ballet classes, off-ice
conditioning, birthday parties, USFSA tests,
competitions, public skating, group lessons, ice
skating exhibitions, use of the snack bar, skate
sharpening and mounting, skate shop purchases, ice
shows, and even Programmed Dance sessions!SCW
prohibits the use of roller/inline skates,
skateboards, scooters, bikes, and Heelys in the
building.
Please drive slowly as you approach or leave the
Club's parking lot. Many children use our facility!
One-fifth of all children 14 years of age and
younger who die in motor vehicle crashes are
pedestrians. Don't forget that the
speed limit on Carruthers Lane, West Park and East
Park Drives is
25 MPH!
State Park rangers have been seen giving out
speeding tickets off East Park Drive.
A recent incident in our parking lot has reminded
all of us to think about reducing our chances of
having our car broken into. Please make sure that
you leave nothing in plain sight inside your car.
All valuables should be carried with you or locked
in your trunk.
SCW Webmaster suggests using
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla Firefox for
Internet browsers, AVG Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus,
Comodo Firewall & Anti-Virus, and Adobe Reader to
read PDF files. All programs are available
free. Click on the logos shown below to
download. Any programs that you download are at your
own risk. Please note SCW's
disclaimer.
